bringing the gospel to your heathen iPod

a note from brendan

wow, what a difference two years can make.

back when i first made podBible, it was more or less on the cutting edge of what could be done with an iPod. then, about a year after it was made, apple introduced the iPhone. on the heels of that came apps, and a flood of Bible software made by people who actually know what they're doing. so what's that mean for podBible?

well, it means that bigger and better things are out there for Christians looking for a mobile Bible. apple is going to keep moving in the direction of apps, and people who are better able to devote their time to it than i am are taking the lead.

for those who still own older models of iPods, podBible version 1.3 will continue to be available for windows. unfortunately, i will no longer be able to develop future versions of podBible, due to both personal time constraints and indications that the older iPod firmware is being phased out. if you own an iPhone or iPod Touch, i recommend LifeChurch.tv's excellent app.

and with that, it's time for podBible to head off into the sunset. i'll continue to maintain this website as long as i think there are still a few people around who may benefit from it. thank you to the tens of thousands, all over the world, who downloaded podBible in its heyday. and thank you to the publishers of the ESV for providing an inexpensive license. i'm thrilled that podBible was able to bless others' lives as well as my own.

as for me, it's time to find a new way to share God's message.

mahalo,

You should also see the Amplified Audio Bible, it's an amazing.

p.s. i can still receive emails at brendan@podbible.org. if you've got any stories about podBible blessing your life, i love hearing them.
